Why I do what I do

Recently I was asked to go live on the radio and talk about my business, what it is that I do and why I do it. After the initial panic, OMG I am going to be on the radio, I sat and looked back over my time running this business and thought about why I do what I do. Of course I already knew but it was another opportunity to look again and now I’d love to explain to you! 

Firstly, you may be wondering, what exactly is a Personal Concierge? Why would I use this type of service? Great questions. 

Put simply, a Personal Concierge is a Personal Assistant for your personal life. 

Has your to-do list ever been so long you have no idea how you’re going to get it all done? All while keeping your job, being a mum/dad, being social and enjoying life? That’s the moment when you contact me! 

I started this business because I have a passion for helping people. I have always been the go to in my circle of friends and with my family, on how to do this and that, where do I buy this, how do I do this etc. I remember being on the phone with my sister one day and she was talking about something she needed to find online to buy and she just didn’t have the time. She asked if I could help. Of course I said yes! I love helping people and I love shopping. I think I had a bit of a light bulb moment then; what if I can turn my passion into a business? I jumped onto google and stumbled across the terms ‘Personal Concierge’ and ‘Lifestyle Manager’ and thought, wow, this is what I need to do. That is when Your Lifestyle Manager was born. 

Prior to this I was working in a corporate role. If I went back to this it would of involved a 50 minute bus trip to and from the city, getting up before the birds to get my 3 children ready and dropped off to day care, working all day, repeating the process on the way home then being mum for the evening. My husband is a tradie and his hours are unpredictable so it would have been all me. I am not saying it isn’t doable, it just wasn’t something that felt right for me and my family. I wanted something I could do from home, around the kids and my husband and our lifestyle. 

I understand not everyone has this option, or they don’t want to work from home, or it isn’t possible in their line of work. That is when life can get hectic and overwhelming. I created this business to help people who do not have the option to get it all done by themselves, or just simply do not want to do it all. 

I have thoroughly enjoyed my journey and have learned so much along the way.
